Virginia Tech uses CLD 88 for Ambient NOx

Ahmad Nabiyar • Feb 21, 2017

“We use our [CLD] 88 Y [NOx Analyzer] in a mobile laboratory to measure NOx at ambient levels. We use a technique called eddy covariance to measure vertical fluxes of NOx with a 14 meter mast on our mobile laboratory. The 88 Y has the best time resolution and sensitivity of any commercially available NOx analyzer and it has been very stable and robust.

We have used it in Norfolk, Virginia to look at NOx emissions over an urban area, in San Diego, California and Tijuana, Mexico to investigate differences in NOx emissions on either side of the international border, and at a regional airport in southwestern Virginia to look at emissions from airport related activities and their impact on the surrounding neighborhood.”

– Dr. Linsey C. Marr, Professor in Civil & Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech University.
